Serving as president of the Coda Club at John Abbott College—an intercollegiate group that partnered with the Canadian Cancer Society to fundraise and raise awareness for cancer research—has been a deeply meaningful experience. In this role, I helped guide the club by setting goals, leading meetings, and fostering a strong sense of community and engagement among members. Acting as the primary liaison between our club and other Coda seeds, I worked to ensure our initiatives remained aligned with the shared mission of Coda and the Canadian Cancer Society.

The coordination of events and projects required careful planning, from securing sponsorships to organizing booths, products, and decorations for our various fundraisers. Over 175 hours were devoted to making these efforts successful.

Together, our team brought to life a number of impactful initiatives: Spooky Night (a collaboration with the JAC Space Club), the JAC Popcorn and S’mores fundraiser, the creation of festive Christmas cards for pediatric patients and children from the local community, and the JAC Easter fundraiser. Furthermore, in partnership with the other Coda seeds, we took part in the World Cancer Day Gala, and the Christmas in July gift-wrapping event, also for young patients, held in both 2023 and 2024 (check out the article written about us on CityNews Everywhere https://montreal.citynews.ca/2024/07/19/sainte-justine-hospital-student-gifts-coda/).

These efforts not only supported those affected by cancer but also helped foster awareness, compassion, and a sense of unity. It has been heartening to witness the way this work brought people together around a shared purpose.

Being part of this journey, alongside my dear friends, has been a true privilege. Our time at John Abbott College has been filled with cherished moments, creating memories that we will warmly remember for a lifetime!

I am proudly passing the reins to the Junior Executives taking over next semester. Can’t wait to see what you accomplish!

With much love <3
