Discover the best natural face masks for teens and kids, as well as their benefits!
Less pollution, less plastic and no chemical added…

Who’s interested in learning more about all-natural, homemade face masks? Recently, I worked on a project with my mom, organizing a spa day for two little girls who absolutely adore being pampered. We thought including a face mask would be a great idea. However, when it comes to buying masks, especially online, it’s hard to be 100% sure they’re kid-friendly or truly natural, since there are often hidden ingredients. And let’s not forget the environmental impact—producing plastic packaging increases pollution. So, we decided to create a totally natural and fresh face mask using chocolate and milk, with no preservatives or additives, and we were proud to avoid the use of plastic.

The entire spa day was a success! After that experience, I searched the internet for more information on the benefits of chocolate face masks. I also discovered the health properties of other fruits and vegetables and came up with a few more face mask recipes: avocado, papaya, mango, and rice. Homemade face masks effectively nourish and replenish our skin, making it appear glowing, fresh, and beautiful. I invited my friends and my little neighbor over to try these new masks and validate the results. Our goal was to keep everything natural, healthy, and above all, kid-friendly.

Before applying a face mask, keep the following in mind:

– If you have sensitive skin or allergies, it’s best to consult a doctor or beauty therapist—or simply ask your mom.

– Before application, cleanse your face thoroughly with clean water. Spread the mixture over your face, but avoid applying it around your eyes and mouth. Afterward, rinse the mask off with lukewarm water for better results.

Here are some kid- and teen-friendly homemade face mask recipes and their benefits:

Chocolate face mask – my favourite

You need:

  • 3 tablets of chocolates
  • 1 tablespoon of milk
  • mixing bowl
  • cosmetic face brush
  • a clean towel

How to:

Make the mask slightly thick to get the most out of it. It’s recommended to use dark, pure chocolate, which means sugar-free. We prepared our mask using 72% cocoa chocolate and milk. We mixed the three tablets of chocolate with one tablespoon of milk—simple as that! We used makeup brushes to mix and apply the mask to our skin. The warm chocolate felt so calming on our faces, with a soft texture and a relaxing smell. If you’re not outside in the sun, I suggest warming the chocolate for a few seconds in the microwave before mixing.

Chocolate does not only taste good, but it also has a large number of benefits for the skin:

  • It is a very good nutrient for the skin. The antioxidants and C vitamins in chocolate help hydrate and regenerate the skin, making it ideal for those with dry or rough skin.
  • It protects your skin from bacteria and toxins in a dirty, polluted environment—over 100 times more effectively than vitamin C and 25 times more effectively than vitamin E.

  • Chocolate contains a high level of antioxidants, which prevent free radicals in the air from being absorbed into the skin, a major cause of aging and wrinkles. While we may not need this just yet, it’s something our moms will appreciate.

  • It helps treat acne by stimulating skin cells to release bacteria.

  • It protects the skin from the harmful effects of UVA/UVB rays.

Scrubbing the dead cells is very important to maintain the beauty and health of the skin every single time. Therefore, scrubbing with a chocolate mask is highly recommended for you to do at least once a week.

Avocado Face Mask:

You need:

  • 1/2 of ripe avocado
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 1 tsp. olive oil
  • mixing bowl
  • cosmetic face brush
  • a clean towel

How to:

Remove the pit from the avocado half and scrape out the pulp into a bowl. Mash the avocado with a fork until you get a creamy, smooth paste. Add 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of olive oil to the mashed avocado. Before applying the mask, wash your face with a mild soap to remove dirt and cosmetics. Apply the avocado mask to your clean skin and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with plain water, preferably lukewarm.

Avocado face mask benefits:

  • Avocado is a natural way to nourish your skin.

  • Avocados are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins A, B, K, and E, all of which can improve skin health and wellness.

  • It’s great for moisturizing the skin, healing acne and inflammation, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, exfoliating, and controlling excess oil.

Papaya Face Mask

You need:

  • 1/4 ripe papaya
  • 1 tsp. Honey
  • 5-6 drops lime juice
  • mixing bowl
  • cosmetic face brush
  • a clean towel

How to:

Chop the ripe papaya into small pieces and blend them into a smooth paste. Add lime juice to the papaya paste and blend again. Now, add the honey to the mixture. Apply the papaya face mask and leave it on for about 15 minutes before washing it off gently with lukewarm water.

Papaya face mask benefits:

  • A papaya face mask can make your skin soft and supple. The enzymes in papaya help treat dry, flaky skin and keep it hydrated.

  • The enzymes in papaya peel remove dead skin cells, reducing wrinkles and age spots.
  • Papaya is rich in vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant.

Mango Face Mask

You need:

  • 1/2 ripe mango
  • 1 tsp. Honey
  • 5-6 drops of lime juice
  • mixing bowl
  • cosmetic face brush
  • a clean towel

How to:

Chop half a mango and blend it until smooth. Add lime juice to the paste and mix with a spoon. Now, add the honey to the mixture. Apply the mango face mask and leave it on for about 15 minutes before washing it off gently with lukewarm water.

Mango face mask benefits:

  • Mango can be applied on the face for glowing and radiant skin.
  • Mango is loaded with antioxidants that have anti-inflammatory effects on your skin.
  • Prevents collagen damage. Collagen is a protein that keeps your skin elastic and prevents signs of aging. Mango extracts have analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects due to the presence of polyphenols.
  • Studies have proved that mango can prevent a wide range of bacterial, fungal, and microbial attacks on your skin.

Rice flour face mask and scrub

You need:

  • ¼ cup of rice flour
  • 2 tbsp. water or milk
  • 1 tsp. Honey
  • 5-6 drops of lime juice
  • mixing bowl
  • cosmetic face brush
  • a clean towel

How To:

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well to form a smooth paste. You can use lukewarm water or milk to soften the rice flour more easily. Spread the mixture over your face, avoiding the eyes and mouth. Let the face mask dry for 15 minutes, then wash it off with lukewarm water.

Rice flour face mask and scrub benefits:

  • The rice flour scrub exfoliates dead skin cells and removes excess oil, which can cause acne.

  • It’s exfoliating while also being gentle. Rice flour scrub can treat hyperpigmentation and blemishes on the face. It also smooths fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Rice flour is rich in vitamins and minerals, making it very nutritious.

  • Rice has the ability to revitalize your skin’s natural glow. Its soft texture lightly removes dead skin cells while the amino acids and vitamins nourish fresh, new skin.

If you have any leftover fruits after making your face masks, why not make a fruit salad? 😉 Have fun! And if you have any other fruit mask suggestions, let me know, I’d love to hear about them!

Enjoy and stay healthy, Irene
